Project: Handel-C Technology Adoption Strategy

Title:
Technology Evaluation of Handel-C for Adoption in the Networking Industry
Client:
Celoxica Ltd.
Description:
In mid 2000 Nettonics Limited responded to a request from Embedded Solutions Limited (being renamed Celoxica Limited) to investigate suitable short and long term reserach activities in the field of re-configurable software as applied to communications networking technology. Dunelm consultants supported Nettonics in completing this work. After the initial short study the follow-on work investigated suitable algorithms for support in re-configurable hardware for: fixed broadband wireless access, set-top boxes, home-networking, speech recognition, mobility, IP telephony, routers and layer-x switches, security, firewalls and virtual private networks, and control algorithms for fibre-optic lasers. The work identified several areas of core intellecual property well-suited to implementation using Celoxica's Handel-C technology. The work also surveyed the relevant research activities funded in the UK and by the European Commission.
Deliverables:
The following delverables were completed:
  • Survey in the 'Applications of Re-configurable Devices in Data Communications'
  • Study in 'Algorithms for use in Re-configurable Hardware: Part I'
  • Study in 'Algorithms for use in Re-configurable Hardware: Part II'
